Wave Tank Testing for W200CM model

Solar2Wave pilot in Indonesia

We are thrilled to announce that HelioRec, in collaboration with Centrale Nantes, has successfully completed wave tank testing of the W200CM model!

The full-scale prototype was manufactured in Bretagne at EMP ROTOMOULAGE and meticulously assembled by the HelioRec team, with invaluable assistance from the Bassins d'essais de Centrale Nantes team.

Our tests were conducted under various conditions, including different sets of regular and irregular waves, reaching a maximum wave height of 1 meter and testing with various induction angles.

🔹 Wave Monitoring: Installed 8 wave gauges in the ocean basin for precise wave tracking.

🔹 Mooring Systems: Equipped with 4 mooring load cells connected to the catenary mooring lines.

🔹 Load Analysis: Positioned 6 load cells at various points of the prototype for detailed force measurement.

🔹 Motion Capture: Used the advanced Qualisys motion capture cameras to individually measure the motions of the 16 floaters and 4 footpaths. The "rigid bodies" feature allowed us to instantly obtain 6 degrees of freedom for each element.

This successful testing phase brings us closer to revolutionizing renewable energy solutions and demonstrates the potential of ocean-based energy systems.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!

Send us a message (savetheplanet@heliorec.com) if you would like to know more about the testing and results.
