In late January 2025, Storm Herminia brought record-breaking rainfall and severe flooding to Brittany, particularly affecting areas like Rennes, which experienced its worst flooding in over 40 years (source).
Despite these challenging conditions, HelioRec's 250kW floating solar power plant in Brittany continued to generate electricity without interruption.
The project is installed on a large water body and integrates advanced energy components, including inverters, DC, and AC boxes, directly onto the floating platform. These components are essential for converting and managing the solar energy produced by the panels. Despite the challenges of working in a water-based environment, HelioRec successfully adapted the systems for stable, efficient operation (video).
